出國參加Mobile Communication Conference 2001報告

Mobile Communication Expo是第二次在Helsinki舉行，展覽部分比去年成長75％，場地仍在Fair Center，有近百家廠商在2001年4月24-25日兩天中展出。除了在場地展覽外，每家廠商並有40分鐘之廠商Profile及研發技術介紹。

依廠商之參展內容，大約可分成六大類：

A） Service Providers：25家

B） Network Technologies：5家

C） Software and software vendors：40家

D） Equipment and System Supplies：16家

E） Operators：5家

F） Other Products and Services：17家

主要以歐洲廠家為主，例如手機業者僅有Nokia及Siemens參展。同時，不少廠家身兼Service Provider及Software Provider。

展覽場之一大特色係集中在開發Mobile Commerce及Mobile Business，很多廠商嘗試提供更多可能的Service以刺激消費者，提高Mobile之附加價值。茲簡介每類展覽之特色及願景：

A）Service Providers：

此類廠商以提高Mobile service之特色為主，其中Add2phone以SMASH（Smart Mobile Advertisement Server）技術聞名，提供Mobile Advertising、Value-added services及Mobile e-commerce產品，並可擴展至多種現有之網路連線裝置。Future121則以個性化多重Channel之無線通信應用，主要產品有Personalized Mobile banking、Location-based、Mobile Solution及Personalized Multi-Channel Portal，技術面以One-to-one Wireless Multi-channel Solution為基礎。

B） Network Technologies：

此類廠商之客戶以Operator為主，故參展家數少似可預期。其中NetSeal Technologies，以提供Software Solutions for internet based wireless infrastructure方面之技術領先。其主要旗艦產品為”RoamMate”軟體系統，提供解決在Mobile Internet Connection之Availability的問題，包含mobile IP用戶與Internet連接之維護，User identification及Data security等。

而Solid technology則以整合Related Data Management及Advanced Data Synchronization見長。其產品可嵌入至現有各種網路設備及光纖router，以及未來可能之垂直整合智慧型系統。功能包括scalable、intelligent store及fault tolerant、high performance等，目前已有HP、Nokia、Nortel等採用。

C） Software and Software Vendor：

所謂Software廠商係指提供軟體系統給Service Providers。而Software Vendor則指提供Software廠商開發程式或開發平台者。但因目前Business Model仍在摸索中，所以大部分Software Vendor幾乎同時也是Software廠商。此領域參展廠商極多，如Digia、Multilizer、Potalify、Solagem、Forca、Republica、Firsthop、Aqentum Tech、IOcore、Smartner、TietoEnator、Genimap、e-Trust等皆是。

產品之核心技術皆極為接近，以Digia為例，它是以Symbian Operating System（前身為EPOC）為平台，提供Mobile Application Software之Developing tools，使Operator或Content Service Provider能利用它們的程式或gateway等技巧，完成它們提供Service時所需要的User Interface、Data Management及Security Connection或甚至Billing System等。依不同之應用而衍生出不同面貌的公司，如IOcore強調其在information collection、routing & archiving、System integration of dynamic information delivery及Billing有專精，適合於mobile portal。

Forca強調它們在Weather information之整理及分析能力，以及GSM SMS（Short Message Service）messaging與WAP enabling之software平台及使用者界面。Solagem號稱在mobile e-mail service及Web-browser有專長並可結合JMS及XML Services，可提供Command level整合之interface for multi-channel devices。Smartner則強調在security connection方面，以提供enterprise gateway。Republica則擅長在XML領域，號稱其X-fetch suite可做為Multi source之Mobile service開發平台。Firsthop則以Message Gateway自居，可提供Java API、C++ API、Active X、HTTP等界面並符合SMS、Email、Pager等protocol。TietoEnator則以CRM專業廠商之技術領先，提供All network-related information management systems。Genimap則是Mobile Map之平台，提供Location-based services on multi-channel devices。

D）Equipment and System Suppliers：

設備廠商主要是手機及量測設備，尤其是Mobile System之量測，手機廠商僅有Nokia及Siemens。Nokia主要是推銷它的新款Communicator-9210，此機型具備Pocket PC及Mobile Phone之雙重功能，或稱為Smartphone之雛型，將PDA、PC及Mobile Phone結合為一體，以迎合未來之各項可能Mobile internet時代之Service。Siemens亦不遑多讓提出多款Devices，含e-book級之SimPAD-CL4，並同時展示多項mobile shopping之整合服務。

此外，設備廠商有Softa Test，提供embedded testing環境，Tecono則展示其IT測試機台for所有IT量測。

E） Operators：

在芬蘭最大的Operator為Sonera，會場之展示間也最大。主要係展示其在early adaptor之trial分析及customer對各種不同service之行為研判，以做為提供更多service之考量。其實在會議之報告中，大家多次提及日本i-mode之成功及其特殊之服務模式—即operator提供一切，控制一切含Billing。Sonera聲稱他們的研究會依不同customer culture而有不同作為。

F） Other Products and Services：

針對未知之未來，其實我們目前能想到的應用可能仍極有限，有極大的空間等著去發掘。如PELTOR提出以Bluetooth技術結合手機及手機之WS Phone headset，提供worker在noisy環境使用。HP亦展示了其mobile office之total solution，將其原已擅長之各項週邊產品結合mobile devices，並同時展示含3G billing solution之整合服務方案。EnFO Group則整合所謂的Mobile Task management、Mobile Map、Mobile Navi（Navigation）、Mobile Track等提供distributed mobile system for real-time security communication services。
